Check out my Blog for a Personal post (gasp!)

I listed 25 things in no particular order that I wanted to share. Only a few were familiar the rest were way out of left field.
Highlights:
Wanting to be a Priest
Was Scared of Thunder
wanted to be an astronaut
hating vegetables
and not swearing.

See the Blog over at wordpress to find 20 more as well as explanations .

but it's nothing major. It's just I went an joined tumblr. So I have a public twitter, a public blog at wordpress, and now, a tumblr... yeah. (and a linked in profile but that' just literally sits there)  I also give out my facebook url for the hell of it (if you're not my friend you don't see much!

I also have this set on public and it posts to LJ which is supposed to be private/friends only but the DW dumps are public... so yeah I'm spreading myself a bit too thin I think

but there's this cool website I just found out about called about.me where you can link all your interwebs stuff from there. So I signed up for that.

Gone are the days were I use bookworm2007 .Now everything is walshcaitlin. So I wish I could have an gmail that is walshcaitlin
but if it's any consolation i have walshcaitlin11 at hotmail which i just got in oder to use onenote online :)

Life on the internet... literally!

I think

So I am in Chicago trying to get back to boston after visiting mom's parents. But there's a Blizzard in Boston so Southwest canceled all it's flights. I mean the 7 am one got off but not the 720. Weird. and we were originally on the 11 and that got cancelled while we were en-route so we were put on the 525 via phone. the change was valid to show up at check in and thankfully they took our bags despite the 8 hour wait. (They have a 4 hour rule)
Once that 4 hour window approaches (so ~115 or so) there's another call and our flight is canceled again. And the last flight is sold out so we are put on a 7 am flight tomorrow. (That last flight was also canceled later on)

so the situation stands that we're spending the night in the airport. In my 22 years I've never been stranded. I've never had travel plans that coincided with a blizzard I guess. Closest thing was a flight over 15 years ago that was delayed and delayed due to a blizzard in Boston. It was a delta flight and the four of us needed to get to an Ohio city for an uncles wedding... the next day. I don't remember much but we did take off that night instead of that afternoon or something.

Part of the problem is that we're flying Southwest, and I believe that they just cancel flights instead of dealing with major weather delays and resulting backlog. There are other flights who did/ get out of O'Hare just delayed...

Thankgod I have my laptop :)

Okay so I know I haven't posted much on here,.;.. like at all. I'm sorry! If it makes you feel any better, I haven't done a good job maintaining my blog either.

Anyway if anyone uses Google Chrome to surf the web, check out http://www.google.com/chrome/intl/en/p/cause/#tnc Chrome for a Cause. Four five days 15-19th of December, Chrome will donate money based on how many tabs you have open at once. It's as easy as having ten tabs of gmail open or something like that :)

And you get to chose from 5 charities.

Catholic.
Whether this nobler in the spirit to suffer the slings and arrows of an institution that claims I'm suffering from a burden
Or to take my patronage (money) elsewhere
And by leaving, oppose it?

Which goes deeper my Catholic-ness or my sexuality? I was talking with my Queer Religion professor and he and I seemed to agree that it's the religion that's deeper than your sexuality. I didn't tell him this but that got me thinking then if it affects the whole born with it/choice debate. If your sexual orientation is not at the deepest layer of your identity, then do you have any power over it? Is it a choice? Or just a choice to act on it or not?

I think I'm coming to terms with sitting in the pews and remaining Catholic for now. But that could change if O'Malley and gang decide to close St. Francis. St. Catherine's is finally on the market, but at the worst time. Seriously I'd be surprised if anyone wants to take on the project of turning that church into something sellable like condos. And given it's location... I have no idea what will happen to that building.

St. Francis, on the other hand is in a prime spot right on top of the hill. If they were to sell it, provide the market's not still in the toilet, they'd probably get a hefty sum for it. If not for the Church itself, then the old covenant and rectory which are on either side. Maybe they'd let us sell off the parish center first before closing the parish.

He's probably going to need to retire soon. His knee was so bad during Thanksgiving, he could barely genuflect and every time he went down the steps of the altar, he winced in pain. He has to be 80...

November means National Novel Writing Month.

Things are going pretty well this year, just like last year. I don't talk about the other years because I never even came close. Both last year and this year I worked with modified word goal. Instead of the 50,000 words, last year I set 25,000 and met it on the last day.
This year I set a 30,000 goal, meaning I need to write at least 1000 words a day. So far, I am behind, but I'm not that worried because I have plot outlined. Last year was more of a flying at the seat of my pants after a couple weeks, but it still worked out. This year I know what is going to happen (I think - NaNos have a wicked reputation for being unpredictable!)

But the bottom line, I am enjoying it. A Lot. Will post what I have so far probably later this weekend over at my "real" blog.

Because.

It’s been decided. On October 20th, 2010, we will wear purple in honor of the 6 gay boys who committed suicide in recent weeks/months due to homophobic abuse in their homes at at their schools. Purple represents Spirit on the LGBTQ flag and that’s exactly what we’d like all of you to have with you: spirit. Please know that times will get better and that you will meet people who will love you and respect you for who you are, no matter your sexuality. Please wear purple on October 20th. Tell your friends, family, co-workers, neighbors and schools.

8) What is your favorite holiday?
Probably Christmas because there's three main components: the religious, the family/food, and the gifts. But I hate the commercialization of it so maybe easter is it instead. I remember as a kid going present crazy, but not in a spoiled only child kind of way. Now I'm thankful for any kind of gift.

9) What is your favorite season?
Spring or Fall. I like seeing things change. Spring on campus is beautiful , once the flowers start coming in.

10) What are you afraid of?
answering this question.... no i guess i'm afraid of failure, in the large scheme of things. An F on my report card. Not being able to find a good job and lead the life I want to. Having people see me cry or weak... that's a big one.

11) Do you like trains?
yes. I love to ride them. I am fascinated by subway systems. And when I was in Germany I got to go to the main train station, get on a train and just go a couple different times. It was awesome. Can't get that feeling here with Amtrack charging an arm and a leg for East Coast service.

12) Do you like your name?
yes I love it. I just wish there weren't so many ways to spell it. Also Caitlin Walsh is kinda ordinary, so I have to use my middle name to stand out. My middle name is just Marie, but I think the three go together pretty well.

What about your name?
walshcaitlin: (Default)
Well it's 1202 so this is gonna be another double!

6) What color are your eyes? Do you wear glasses or contact lenses? Do you wear colored lenses that change your eye color? Would you rather have a different eye color?

The Eye Color question is difficult as I don't really know. I think they are brown. My mom has brown. But my dad has blue. I don't have blue eyes but I know my eyes are entirely brown either, as in they have flecks in them. And I wear glasses, only since 10th grade. (I'm a senior in college) I can only see my eye doctor once every two years so I'm on my 3rd pair. (almost 6 years)

7) What's the first book you remember reading?

Doll Party, one of those step readers. I was in LOVE with dolls at the time so it seemed logical. :) I don't remember if it was a gift or I picked it out myself though. I do know when I got a little older mom would take me to the bookstore and buy be a book. For no apparent reason! I wasn't spoiled with toys, but with books! :D

4) What is your ideal meal?

I'm a bit of a romantic so I going to have to say a date at one of those nice restaurants. I've been on dates before, but never to those types of restaurants. And the meal itself isn't that important, but it has to be good (and if it's pasta has to have shrimp!) and I would like to have one, maybe two drinks. (a before dinner cocktail and an after dinner cocktail!)

So off course I wouldn't be driving (don't know how anyway!)

5) What is your favorite part of your body?

My Hair. I love when it's curly. (See icon)

walshcaitlin: (Default)
 3) What did you eat for your last meal?

(Posting this before breakfast, because my breakfast is BORING) Last night I went to a Catholic BBQ with other college aged Catholics on Long Island. Before that we were on Long Beach and then we were in church. I had skipped lunch and was quite hungry. I hate two hot dogs, a cheeseburger, some lettuce, a tomato and some potato salad. Then later I had a cookie, two roasted marshmallows and a smore for desert!

See the list here
2) If you could live anywhere at all, where would you live?

If you asked me this a year ago, I would either have no idea or say NYC or Boston. Basically staying close to home. But now that I've studied abroad in Munich, I'm gonna have to say that. In a perfect world I could live in Munich and write full time (in English)

Maybe in 20 years or so...

walshcaitlin: (pic#620313)
I'm browsing DW and I find a meme of 30 questions for yourself from [personal profile] brigid 's journal.

So I'm going to answer one a day. (that actually may change because some of the questions are lighter fare than others)

Anyway:
1) Where do you live?
Depends of the time of year. I'm still a student so from September - May I live at Hofstra University on Long Island. Rest of the time, including a month off for Christmas, I'm living at home in Boston. My parents joke I can do anything I want as long as I'm out of the house when I'm 25. I'm a senior majoring in English and German, so who knows when I'll move out on my own.

So this year I signed up to be a columnist for our school's newspaper. The paper has a reputation for being god-awful most of the time, but I figured with the economy being the way it is, I should at least have SOME experience working with a newspaper. I refuse to write news stories, and I know it sort of defeats the purpose, but that's just who I am. I invent stories, not report them.

Will supply the link as soon as it goes live on the website. Right now it's not updated, but my column got into the paper, which is even more impressive. Some things only get published as web only.

I don't think I'll ever delete my LJ, because I've had it for so long.

But I will start posting my LJ based posts through Dreamwidth.

And I still have my blog. Too bad I can't
1) also cross post there
and 2) change my lj name so it's all under walshcaitlin
